Bill Haas for US Congress

I'm Bill Haas, and I want to represent you, the 2nd District of Missouri, in Congress, the House of Representatives. I expect to be running in the Democratic Primary in August of 2012.

Once elected to the House of Representatives I vow to put People ahead of Politics. Republicans seem to put politics ahead of people. The people of Missouri deserve better representation, and I will represent the people when I'm elected to Congress. I will put that before partisan politics.

The signature issue for my first term in Congress will be to end animal abuse on factory farms. Even a freshman congressman should be able to an have impact on this important issue.

People Not Politics

The 2nd District may still be perceived as more of a Republican district, but it’s more moderate after redistricting and Obama got 48% of the district in 2008. So the right Democrat, well-funded, can beat the wrong Republican, and I believe I’m the right Democrat. You never know what God's plan is.


As you may remember, I was the Democrat nominee for this district in 2008. After concluding that a Democrat could not beat Akin, in 2010, I ran for congress in 2012 in the Republican primary against Akin as a moderate. I didn’t change any of my issues. I thought that between moderate Republicans, Independents, and Democrats who could cross over since there was no contested Democratic primary, that I would have a chance to beat the ultra-conservative Todd Akin. It was sound in theory, but people forgot to tell me there was no such thing as a moderate Republican anymore, and the teapartiers done me in. I’m back in the Democratic primary where I belong and expect to have a chance to win if my campaign is well-funded and I can bring my message to the people. If everyone who views my website and would like to defeat the Republican nominee, whoever that may be, contributes $25, I’m there.

The 2nd district consists of much of St. Louis County, half of St. Charles County, and all of Lincoln County.
